Another Day in Paradise

Yeah right!!! It's snowing which I know comes as a shock to you all. Your dad has been home the last two days with a bad cold--I told him not to eat out while we were in Atlanta. Guess I'll be next even if I tried every way I could not to come down with a cold. The ducks and Sherlock were starving by the time we got home. I looked out my window this morning to see a duck sitting on top of the rail nearest to the living room window pecking at a corn cob we had stuck in a nail. I couldn't get a picture though because the flash against the window faded the picture. Dad threw out 5 loaves of duck bread, and about 6 ears of corn and it is already gone. Sherlock went through one of the ears of corn by himself.

The dogs seem to be happy to be back. They are catching up on the sleep they missed. We obviously missed some bad weather because when we got back we had to take our flag down and throw it away because it was ripped to shreds. My glass bird feeder was busted too. And there were huge piles of snow in parking lots. Thank you again Jon for asking us all down. I very much enjoyed your new TV and your "body science" videos. Loved your house, it was such a relief to get out of this trailer. I think we will be spending Christmas here though. Dad got pretty sick from this trip and I don't know if he will be up for another one. Anyway our budget was stretched thin with this trip just like everyone elses was I'm sure.

Hope everyone is doing well and having a great week. If not--there is always next week. Hang in there. Love you all.

First Snow Begins

Our first snow began Wednesday at 11am and hasn't stopped. They are predicting it will not stop until next Wednesday. It is 9am Thursday currently. Hope we can get out of here Friday. Once we get to Gary, Indiana it should be clear enough the rest of the trip. I refuse to stay here for Thanksgiving!! The dogs are all hopped up to leave. Poochie has been playing in the snow this morning. She wants to go in and out like a little kid. Rocky went out but the snow was too deep for him so he came back in immediately. Herc hides and refuses to venture out.

Dondras March To The Sea

Saturday was absolutely gorgeous. Around sixty degrees, very little wind so I jumped out of bed to start my march to the sea. I got the leaf blower out and began pushing all the leaves toward the creek out back. I refuse to pick up those leaves and bag them then call the office and have them unlock the area around the refuse container. I worked for hours and Gary finally came out to help. We worked from nine am till three am just getting the leaves to the creek.

Now it is Sunday, and I can barely move. Every muscle in my body is screaming. To top everything off the day has been filled with nothing but wind. Gusts up to sixty miles an hour. So much for all the work I did yesterday. The wind is so bad it has sent the chairs on the deck sailing and at times I wonder if the mobile home is going to stay put. They are calling for snow to begin Tuesday and snow everyday until Sunday.

We are leaving next Friday after work if Jason will let us spend the night with him. Saturday morning we will get up then and go to Jon's stopping off around noon at Jessicas before she goes to work. I'll need to shop and get ready for Thanksgiving. Told Jon we could help him pull the house together and get ready for turkey day.

Sherlock Posing

Sherlock Talks to Me

Sherlock, I have discovered is a ham. He has started posing for pictures now. Today as I sat on the couch taking his picture through the window, he perched on the rail and began to make a strange sound while he watched me. It was almost like he was threatening me. He was leaning forward starring at me making a low almost growling sound. I caught him breaking into the bird seed Gary had left on the deck. He's getting braver. The other day he was looking in the window, luckily I had it shut! I've read that squirrels only live for two years, so I wonder if I will see him in the spring or not. He doesn't appear to be a young squirrel.

We had lots of trick or treaters the other night. We gave out over 70 cokes and a huge caldron full of candy. A lot of the kids did not speak English. One even in a wheelchair--I think that is the first handicapp trick or treater I've ever experienced. Because we were giving out cokes, some of the parents wanted to know if we had any Bud Light for them! Don't think so. The kids were all polite and 2 or 3 of them were repeats. One dad on the street took the coke away from his young one and said here let me hold that, then the father proceeded to open it and drink it. At 7:30 just as we had run out of candy and cokes, it started to pour down rain. Thank goodness, we didn't have to run down to the store and get more candy!

We have a grocery store here called The Family Fare. The way you enter and leave the store is through a big revolving door. Well yesterday in the paper a Family Fare store had a freak thing happen. A three point buck slipped through the door. He got in the revolving door came in ran down the pet food aisle, and then headed for the donut display before two workers could grab him by the antlers and pull him out of the store. I guess when you got to have a Krispy Kreme you just got to have one!
